Resident Assistant and Peer Mentor Selection Process

SOAR Where You Live: The 2023-2024 Resident Assistant & Peer Mentor Selection Process 

Resident Assistant (RA) and Peer Mentor (PM) applications will be available from November 4, 2022, to December 4, 2022 on the MyHousing portal

For full consideration, applicants MUST do the following:

Online RA/PM Application (*REQUIRED)

 

To complete the application:

  1. Using your TUPortal username and password, sign into MyHousing. 
  2. Click "Employment Application" in the top menu.
  3. Select the position you are applying for.
    1. Candidates can apply for both the RA and PM role; however, if successful, they may only be selected for one position. 
  4. Complete the General Application questions. 
  5. Answer three Short Essay questions.

Address the following qualifications in your application:

  • Experience working to support and develop others through individual and/or group interactions.
  • Experience with programming, community building, and participation in community service work or leadership roles throughout your academic career.
  • Ability to manage crisis, including problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Work or Involvement with diverse populations.
  • Ability to organize administrative tasks, to work efficiently, independently, and in team settings.
  • Substantial interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Information Sessions (*REQUIRED)

All applicants must attend one (1) required information session. Information Sessions will provide more details about the Resident Assistant and Peer Mentor roles along with a Q&A portion with current staff members.

Next Steps

 

Submitted AN application? What's next?

  • After applications close on December 4th, the Residential Life team will review all applications to ensure each applicant meets eligibility requirements. 
  • Applicants will be notified in mid-January of their application status.
  • Selected applicants will be invited to an interview round which will be held in early February 2023. 

Selection Notices

  • Residential Life Staff will review all candidate materials and hiring decisions will be made.
  • Candidates will receive an update regarding their candidacy in late February 2023. 
  • Hired candidates and alternates will be provided informatin on how to register for Student Staff Development Seminar for Spring 2023 7B.
